BAIL's Tales January 2018
Kia ora and a warm welcome to 2018 from all of the BAIL team.
The year of 2017 sped by very fast but somehow it still turned out to be a very eventful year for the team at BAIL. As we look forward to the exciting prospects that a new year brings, we also are taking the time to reflect on the previous year and all the many things that were achieved.
News
Over the last 10 weeks, BAIL had the pleasure of working with Harry White, a University of Otago summer student sponsored by the New Zealand rehabilitation Association. Harry’s project focused on the feasibility of a questionnaire designed to understand secondary health complications in people with spinal cord injury. We were also delighted to welcome back last year’s summer student Zahra Shahtahmasebi to work as a research assistant on a project exploring peer support for people spinal cord injury.

In the last BAILs Tale’s we mentioned the forthcoming book launch for the Art of Recovery on December 11, 2017. The book launch in the foyer of Burwood Hospitals was a great success and attended by Burwood staff, some of the books authors and their families, friends and colleagues, and MP’s Ruth Dyson and Poto Williams. The art of recovery is a collection of six stories which capture the ongoing journey of rehabilitation; recovery through self-determination and courage. each of the six personal accounts are an opportunity to step into the rehabilitation process through the eyes of those who have lived it. We are very grateful to the Keith Laugesen Charitable Trust and the Butson Family who sponsored this project. The book can be purchased from http://www.burwood.org.nz/BAILResources
