BAILS TALES - OCTOBER - "BAIL REGALES"

It’s been a very exciting month here at the BAIL office and there’s lots going on. Our big news is that we have a birth to celebrate (well two as it hap-pens). One of our key researchers Johnny Bourke and his wife Corrin announced the arrival of their twin boys (Oliver and Leonardo) on Sunday 30th September. We have adopted Oli and Leo as our new BAIL Babe mascots and can’t wait for some early photos.

We also have some of our researchers (including our Lead Researcher Anne Sinnott) heading away to the ANZSCoS (Australia and New Zealand Spinal Cord Society) conference in Melbourne later in October to present some of their research. We were lucky to have a sneak preview of their presentations at our Peer Group Research Meeting on 11th October here at the ABC. Watch out for our next Peer Group meeting which will be on December 6th where we will hear from two researchers completing their post graduate qualifications. Johnny Bourke (yes now a Dad x 2) will present the findings of his completed Master’s research looking at the rehabilitation experiences of people with tetraplegia. Jo Fadyl will also be re-turning from AUT to give a presentation on her completed PhD research examining vocational rehabilitation processes. Please put this date in your diary as we can promise two very relevant and stimulating presentations.
Following the Peer Group meeting in December, BAIL will be hosting its Christmas function and will be winding down for the year.

We can’t believe how fast this year has gone by – it’s continued to be a challenge for many of us in Christchurch and we remain positive and optimistic for better progress in 2013.
Come and check us out over in the ABC if you have a moment – we’d love to talk with you about what we do and how we can help if you decide that a research project or related post graduate qualification is some-thing you would like to consider.
