BAIL’s 10th Birthday!

Happy Birthday to us! Yes we have reached the incredible milestone of 10 years.

A decade ago, the New Zealand Spinal trust advanced the nominal sum of $10 to form a new legal entity, the Burwood Academy trust.  This was the final tactical manoeuver of the late prof. Alan Clarke to create a paradigm shift that addressed the rather artificial and unnecessary divide between health professionals and those living with permanent disability.

Ten years on we can say the Burwood Academy of Independent Living is strong, vibrant, still growing and making a real difference in disability, rehabilitation and independent living research.

The last 10 years have seen many milestones and we celebrated it like we do with most things at BAIL, with cake!
